The aurora's (Northern Lights) can be seen throughout Michigan at certain times. Farther north like Michigan's Upper Peninsula can hold better opportunity to see them! The aurora can be seen best at this time, which is called magnetic midnight. In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borealis (or the northern lights). Michigan has a wide variety of places to view this stunning natural phenomenon. Among the best places to view the auroras is along the shoreline of Lake Superior that are located far from city lights. On a clear night, you will be amazed by the shimmering colors.
